Day-by-Day Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival in Arusha

Day 2: Arusha to Serengeti

Travel to Serengeti National Park by the transport method confirmed in your itinerary. Depending on the package, this may involve a domestic flight or road transfer. After arrival, begin the first game drive and continue to the confirmed camp or lodge.

Day 3: Full Day in Serengeti

Spend the day on game drives in the Serengeti area selected for your travel month. The Great Migration moves seasonally, so camp location and game-drive direction should be planned around the period of travel rather than a fixed promise of crossings or large herds in one exact place.

Day 4: Serengeti Safari and Cultural Option

Continue wildlife viewing in Serengeti. A cultural visit can be included when it is confirmed in the package and fits the day's route. It should not be treated as automatic unless it appears in the written itinerary.

Day 5: Ngorongoro Crater and Transfer

Travel toward Ngorongoro and descend into the crater for a game drive. Day 6: Machame Gate to Machame Camp

Day 7: Machame Camp to Shira Camp

Day 9: Barranco Camp to Karanga Camp

Day 10: Karanga Camp to Barafu Camp

Day 12: Mweka Camp to Mweka Gate

The Serengeti portion should be adjusted to the travel month. The migration is not fixed in one area all year. Rainfall, fresh grazing and water influence where large herds are likely to be found. River crossings are especially unpredictable, so the final itinerary should name the actual Serengeti area and camp rather than simply promise a crossing.

Why the Seven-Day Machame Schedule Matters

The seven-day Machame version keeps Karanga and Barafu as separate stages rather than combining them. This gives a less compressed altitude profile than the six-day itinerary. More time can improve acclimatization opportunity, but it does not guarantee the summit.
