Is two days by road really enough?
It is possible but demanding. The drive from Arusha to Serengeti takes a substantial part of Day 1, and the journey home uses much of Day 2. Think of this as a short introduction to the park rather than two complete wildlife-viewing days. Anyone wanting a relaxed pace should consider three or four days.
Day 1: Early departure from Arusha to Serengeti
Leave Arusha early in a safari vehicle and travel through the Ngorongoro highlands. Gate formalities, road conditions and short stops can change the timing. Once inside the Serengeti ecosystem, use the remaining daylight for game viewing on the way to your selected budget campsite or lodge. Your guide will focus on a practical area rather than crossing the park to collect distant sightings.
Day 2: Morning wildlife drive and the long return
Wake early for a short wildlife-viewing opportunity where the accommodation and gate timing permit. Afterwards, begin the long return through the conservation area toward Arusha. Do not expect a full day of photography in Serengeti on this final day. Late-evening international departures should be discussed carefully because road delays are possible.
