What Does “Group Joining” Mean for Seven Days?
Quick answer: You join travelers you did not book with and share a 4×4, a driver-guide and a fixed route. This can lower your cost per person, but the departure date, meal stops, seating and game-drive pace are normally decided for the group.
A joining safari is useful when you want a week in the northern parks and are happy to travel with others. It is not right for everyone. A guest who wants to wait an hour for a photograph or return to camp early with a young child may prefer a private safari.

Your Seven-Day Itinerary
This is a workable planning example. Exact lodge locations, operating hours, transfers and weather determine the confirmed daily schedule; we will send you the final route before booking.
Day 1 — Meet the group and visit Tarangire
Meet at the agreed Arusha pickup and load luggage into the vehicle. Your guide explains the route, stop arrangements and seating plan before you leave. Head to Tarangire for an afternoon game drive if road and gate timing allow. Look for elephants and varied woodland wildlife. The group follows the same route and shares picnic or lodge meal arrangements as confirmed. Overnight near Tarangire.
Day 2 — Lake Manyara or another confirmed northern park
Your exact departure may include Lake Manyara, more time in Tarangire or a direct move toward the highlands. For this sample we visit Lake Manyara, where forest, lake habitat and open-country wildlife differ from yesterday’s scenery. Everyone travels together; separate interests cannot create individual side trips. Overnight near Karatu.
Day 3 — Drive through the Ngorongoro highlands to Serengeti
Leave early for the longer road journey toward Serengeti. Entry procedures and travel time reduce the amount of wildlife viewing available in the afternoon. Once inside, there may be a game drive on the way to camp. Sleeping arrangements depend on the group’s package: public campsite or the named lodge / tented camp.
Day 4 — Serengeti full-day shared game drive
This is the main wildlife day. The guide can choose productive areas based on recent sightings, but passengers should expect group decisions about how long to stay at each stop. Lunch is often a picnic. The route focuses on the part of Serengeti that can realistically be reached from camp rather than trying to see several distant sectors in one day.
Day 5 — Another Serengeti day
A second full day is valuable because no single drive guarantees big cats or a migration scene. Your guide may use a different sector, revisit an area where wildlife has been active or spend more time observing behavior. Guests should be considerate about camera space and seating so everyone has a fair chance to enjoy the view.
Day 6 — Serengeti to Ngorongoro area
Start the journey back toward the highlands. A few game-viewing stops may be possible while exiting, but much of the day is for transferring. Campsite or lodge check-in follows the group’s booked itinerary. Nights around Ngorongoro can be cooler than Serengeti plains, so bring an extra layer.
Day 7 — Ngorongoro Crater and return to Arusha
Descend into the crater subject to local rules for a final wildlife drive. The crater may offer buffalo, lions, elephant and many grazers; black rhino is always a matter of luck. After the visit, travel back to Arusha. If you are flying that evening, discuss the timing well before paying because the road return can be affected by delays.
Before You Pay, Ask if the Departure Is Confirmed
Some joining tours run only when a minimum number of travelers book. Others use set weekly departures. Ask for the exact date, meeting point, departure status and what happens if seats are not filled. A place advertised online is not the same as a confirmed place.

Seats, Group Size and Luggage
Ask how many guests will be in the vehicle and whether a window seat is available for everyone. The vehicle has to carry luggage, drinking water and picnic supplies too. Soft bags are normally easier to fit; large suitcases and specialist camera cases should be discussed early.
A shared vehicle can be very sociable. It can also mean negotiating which sightings deserve a longer stop. It helps if everyone knows the plan before the first park gate.

Room Sharing and Solo Travelers
A joining safari does not automatically mean a private room. Ask if the price is based on sharing a tent or room, whether you will be paired with someone of the same gender, and whether a single supplement applies. These details matter as much as the wildlife route.

What Happens if You Are Late?
With a fixed group departure, the vehicle cannot always wait for a delayed international flight or an unplanned pickup. If you are flying into Tanzania shortly before departure, we recommend an Arusha hotel night and a clear meeting arrangement. Send your phone number and arrival details to the reservations team.
If your flight is delayed, contact us immediately. Joining at a later park or moving you to a different departure may involve additional costs and depends on feasibility.
Cost and Trust: Compare Like With Like
A lower price is useful only if it includes the services you need. Compare park entry, crater fees, camping equipment, room sharing, meals, water, tips policy and airport transfers. A cheap joining offer that leaves important fees out can end up costing more.

Can you pick me up at Kilimanjaro Airport?
It may be arranged separately but can conflict with the departure schedule; an Arusha meeting is usually simpler.
