The schedule below gives the Serengeti three nights for a reason. You are not moving camp after every drive, and the guide has room to change direction when wildlife moves. The transfer days are still real travel days; we will show you where the long road sections fall before asking you to book.
Day 1 — Welcome to Arusha
Capable Africa Tours receives you at Kilimanjaro International Airport or another agreed arrival point and arranges the transfer to your Arusha hotel. This is a settling-in day, not a hidden extra game drive after an overnight international flight. Our team reviews your luggage, dietary preferences and exact pick-up time before departure.
Where you stay: Premium Arusha hotel, subject to confirmation.
Practical note: Late flight arrivals are better followed by rest and a normal morning start.
If your flight lands late, we recommend simply eating and sleeping rather than scheduling an extra activity. Share the flight number and the names on your booking so that airport collection is straightforward.
Day 2 — Arusha to Tarangire
Leave after breakfast for Tarangire, where elephants, baobabs and riverine habitats set a different scene from Serengeti. Private guiding lets you linger at an interesting sighting while still respecting park rules. Capable confirms whether tonight’s luxury camp is inside the park or in the surrounding area.
Where you stay: Premium Tarangire-area lodge or tented camp.
Practical note: A lodge name is a proposal until the room type and price are confirmed.
Tarangire is where you can ask the guide to stop and watch elephants instead of racing between sightings. We will confirm which lodge you reach afterwards, as its location affects tomorrow's drive.
Day 3 — Long Highland Transfer to Serengeti
Travel through the Ngorongoro highlands and continue to Serengeti. The road takes much of the day with gate formalities and stops, so a camp near the wildlife zone is worth more than an impressive name far from it. Enjoy possible en-route game viewing before settling into your camp.
Where you stay: Luxury camp in Central Serengeti.
Practical note: The first Serengeti day is primarily a transfer; do not count on a full-day drive.
Pack a small daytime bag with water, medication and a light layer; reaching Serengeti involves road travel and gate procedures. The precise time you arrive at camp depends on where it is located.
Day 4 — First Full Serengeti Day
Start with an early wildlife drive when the light is softer, or plan a picnic according to the camp and your interests. A private guide can balance sightings with time to enjoy the landscape. Lions, cheetahs, giraffes and seasonal herds are possible, but no animal encounter is reserved in advance.

Practical note: Optional private bush meals or lodge activities must be separately quoted.
Would you rather leave at first light or return for lunch? Both can work. Discuss your preferred rhythm with the guide, because a beautiful room is of little use if the entire holiday feels rushed.
Day 5 — Serengeti: Slow Down and Look Closer
This extra Serengeti day is one of the main reasons for taking eight days. You may revisit productive kopjes, change direction as wildlife shifts, or enjoy a later start. An optional balloon flight, when available, has an additional cost and early collection logistics that must be discussed before booking.
Where you stay: Third night at agreed Serengeti camp.
Practical note: Migration and river crossing locations change seasonally.
This is the day to be patient. Spend time with a pride at a distance or revisit a productive river area; wildlife does not follow a checklist. Ask before booking if you want a balloon flight, since it changes the morning logistics.
Day 6 — Serengeti to the Crater Highlands
Depart after breakfast for the Ngorongoro highlands. The landscape changes as the plains give way to cooler slopes; the transfer is substantial and should not be portrayed as another full wildlife day. If a community visit is requested, Capable will discuss permissions, cultural etiquette, timing and price.
Where you stay: Ngorongoro rim or Karatu luxury lodge.
Practical note: Rim accommodation can cost more and needs early reservations.
The highlands can feel cooler than the plains. Keep a jacket handy and consider this a transfer afternoon rather than expecting a second full game-drive day.
Day 7 — Ngorongoro Crater Excursion
Leave early to descend to the crater floor and take the permitted wildlife route past grassland, wet areas and forest edges. Rhino sightings are special and cannot be promised. Return to your lodge for a relaxed final safari evening rather than trying to cross the region after dark.

You descend into the crater for a limited permitted visit, not an unrestricted full day. We plan the picnic and departure around the park rules and your lodge location.
Day 8 — Return to Arusha and Departure Transfer
Enjoy breakfast, then transfer back to Arusha or Kilimanjaro International Airport at the agreed time. If your departure is late, a short stop can sometimes be arranged, but the drive and airport check-in come first. Capable coordinates the drop-off service shown in the booking.
Where you stay: Safari ends; an extra Arusha hotel night is optional.
Practical note: International flight times must be checked before confirming the final transfer.
An international flight in the morning usually does not fit a same-day road return from Karatu. Tell us your flight time first so we can decide whether the last hotel should be closer to the airport.

Luxury is often a question of location first: a stunning room far outside the wildlife area may require a long daily drive. We compare room style, services, driving distance and seasonal wildlife zones, then send you specific room and meal descriptions before booking.
What a private safari means
Your vehicle and guide are reserved for your party as stated in the quotation, while the lodge may still have shared dining and activities. If you prefer a completely private lodge experience or exclusive-use suite, it needs to be booked and priced separately.
What luxury does not guarantee
A high lodge category will not control rain, animal behaviour or migration crossing times. It can improve sleep, service and privacy. Our role is to position your trip sensibly and explain what remains uncertain.

For this itinerary, we would rather recommend a well-placed camp than an expensive property that adds two hours of driving each morning. Ask for the property names, number of nights, bed configuration and meal plan in your quotation.
