What to expect on this safari
Fly from Arusha into the southern Serengeti–Ndutu ecosystem for two days of seasonal game viewing. This short trip works best when wildebeest are using the plains; your camp and airstrip are chosen around the dates rather than a fixed migration promise.
The plan below is a sample itinerary. Exact departure times, lodge names, park permissions and included services will be confirmed in a written quotation before you make a payment.
Why Ndutu is a seasonal choice
Ndutu sits beside the southern Serengeti plains, where the migration can gather during the rainy-season grazing cycle. Some months the animals are scattered or elsewhere entirely. We first check your travel dates and recent conditions, then decide whether Ndutu is still the right base. A good camp location reduces the transfer between breakfast and the first useful sighting.
Day 1: Arusha flight, arrival and afternoon wildlife viewing
After the agreed hotel pickup, travel to Arusha Airport for your scheduled bush flight. The flight may stop at another airstrip before reaching the Ndutu area. Your guide meets you on arrival and discusses where the herds have been seen recently. Depending on landing time, enjoy a picnic lunch or lunch at camp before continuing the game drive across grassland and woodland edges. Finish at the confirmed tented camp or lodge for dinner and overnight.
Day 2: Early game drive and return to Arusha
Leave camp early, when the light is gentle and the open plains are often active. Your guide may revisit a promising area from the previous day or explore a different habitat if the herds have shifted. Allow enough time to reach the airstrip for the booked return flight. Your actual game-viewing hours depend on flight times; your onward transfer is arranged according to the written itinerary.
Calving season: what is realistic
Large concentrations of wildebeest and zebra may be present when grass is fresh. Calves and predators make the southern plains particularly interesting, but neither a birth nor a hunt can be guaranteed on either game drive. A two-day safari is a snapshot, not a complete migration expedition.
Choosing the right camp and airstrip
For one overnight, camp position is often more important than room features. A faraway lodge can eat into a very short trip. We show the proposed property, the airstrip and the journey between them before you confirm. Pack a soft bag and check the ticketed airline’s baggage restriction, especially if carrying camera equipment.
What is included in the safari package
Return scheduled domestic flights only when itemised in the quotation; 4x4 game drives; accommodation and meals as specified; applicable park and conservation fees when itemised.
The confirmed proposal identifies each paid-for service separately, including the number of nights, meal plan, transport basis and park fees.
What is not included
International flights, visa, travel insurance, personal purchases, staff tips and optional activities unless explicitly quoted.
Items not clearly shown as included should be treated as additional costs until we clarify them in writing.
Price and booking: what changes the quotation
The total depends on travel dates, number of guests, accommodation availability, vehicle arrangement, park charges and any requested flights or add-ons. We do not publish an invented fixed price for an itinerary with variable costs.
Tell us your dates, group size, starting location, preferred accommodation level and any children’s ages. We can then explain the options and quote the services you actually need.
Before confirming your booking
Please review the exact itinerary, travel times, nightly accommodation, cancellation conditions, transport details and any essential dietary or accessibility requirements. Wildlife sightings and seasonal movement cannot be guaranteed.
