Your 4-day safari itinerary
Two Tarangire days allow you to explore different tracks or simply stay longer with the animals you encounter. Ngorongoro follows after a night near Karatu. The final day is mostly for returning to Arusha, which is helpful if you do not want every day to be exhausting.
Day 1 — Arusha to Tarangire
Start from your Arusha hotel and enjoy Tarangire’s baobab and river country. This is an opportunity to spend a meaningful amount of time with elephants and other wildlife without rushing onward to Serengeti. Lunch is arranged according to your game-drive route, followed by an overnight near the park.

Practical note: The safari focuses on two main wildlife areas and does not pretend to include Serengeti.
This first day introduces Tarangire rather than trying to cover the whole park. An overnight nearby lets you go back without another long approach drive.
Day 2 — A Second Tarangire Experience
Keep another day for different tracks and quieter animal observation. Sightings depend on rain and the movement of herds, but returning to a habitat can be more rewarding than adding a distant park just for the name. Families and photographers can discuss a slower pace with their private guide.

Practical note: Moving to Karatu tonight gives better access to the crater tomorrow.
After the second Tarangire visit, you need to continue to Karatu to make the next morning's crater departure feasible. We will choose the departure time and lodge accordingly.
Day 3 — Ngorongoro Crater Game Drive
Leave Karatu early and drive to Ngorongoro, then descend with the guide for a crater-floor wildlife tour. Lions, buffalo, hippo and zebra are among the possibilities; black rhino may be seen but never guaranteed. Follow park time limits and return to Karatu for dinner.

The descent has an operating window and cannot be extended indefinitely. Our guide plans the route and picnic so you can enjoy the permitted time without rushing unnecessarily.
Day 4 — Karatu Morning and Return to Arusha

Practical note: This is usually more comfortable than trying to fit Tarangire, Serengeti and Ngorongoro into four days.

Tarangire often rewards quiet observation near river habitats and baobab woodland. Repeating a different circuit may offer a better experience than leaving early for a distant park. Ngorongoro provides a dramatic contrast on another day.
