Day-by-day itinerary: five days and four nights
This is our practical planning route. Capable Africa Tours confirms your accommodation, pickup time, transport arrangements and park sequence for your actual dates; it is not a fixed wildlife-sighting promise.
Day 1 — Private drive to Tarangire and your first lodge
Your guide meets you in Arusha for the journey to Tarangire. We can start with a relaxed briefing and plan game-viewing stops around your interests. Tarangire’s elephants and striking baobab trees offer a strong opening, but the best luxury is having time to watch rather than racing from sighting to sighting. Later, settle into a high-quality lodge or tented property in a location that supports the next day’s drive.
Overnight / finish: First night in the selected lodge, with room type, meals and any extras identified on the quote.
Day 2 — Across the highlands to Serengeti
Travel through the Ngorongoro highlands toward Central Serengeti. It is a long but scenic road journey, so we build in suitable stops and avoid pretending there is a full extra game drive. If your priority is less road time, ask us before booking about replacing a leg with a scheduled flight; availability and baggage restrictions apply.
Overnight / finish: First night at a premium Serengeti camp selected for its location, not only its brand.
Day 3 — Serengeti with room to linger
Start early when wildlife is active. Spend the day following the rhythm of sightings rather than a checklist. Your guide may suggest a picnic so you can stay out longer, or a midday break at camp if you prefer. The value of a private luxury safari is being able to choose, while still respecting park rules and animal welfare.
Overnight / finish: Second night at the same Serengeti property, ideally with enough leisure time to enjoy the camp.
Day 4 — A last Serengeti drive, then the highlands
Enjoy wildlife viewing near camp before returning through Ngorongoro Conservation Area. Do not underestimate the travel time. Reaching your highlands lodge at a reasonable hour gives you the chance for dinner, a restful night and an early start for the crater the next day.
Overnight / finish: Overnight at a comfortable Karatu or crater-highlands property, depending on the itinerary and park access.
Day 5 — Ngorongoro Crater and departure arrangements
Descend into the crater for a guided wildlife drive. The compact range of habitats can be rewarding, but no animal—especially black rhino—is a guaranteed sighting. After lunch and the crater visit, return to Arusha or your confirmed end point. Guests with international flights should allow an appropriate buffer or an additional night.
Overnight / finish: The final transfer is included only as written in your confirmed booking.
What should you ask about the lodge?
Ask for the property name, room or tent category, bathroom facilities, board basis, whether the camp is inside the park and any compulsory charges. A camp deep inside Serengeti may improve wildlife access, while one farther away may add driving every day. We will discuss those differences rather than substitute a random hotel without telling you.
What is included in a luxury quote?
Private guiding, park fees, accommodation and planned meals are common parts of a full-package quote. Champagne, laundry, spa treatments, premium drinks, balloon flights and domestic flights are not automatically included. We specify everything you are paying for in the final itinerary.

How much time will be spent driving?
A safari day on the Northern Circuit is not the same as a short city transfer. From Arusha to Tarangire, travelers commonly allow roughly two to three hours before park activities, depending on the starting hotel, road conditions and stops. Reaching Central Serengeti by road from the Karatu/highlands area takes a substantial part of a day. The crater visit and onward return also require most of the final day.
These are planning indications, not promised transfer times. For a Zanzibar fly-in or a Kilimanjaro Airport arrival, flight schedules and check-in time matter just as much as the road journey. A five-day safari price changes with the season, the number of guests sharing a vehicle, private versus shared guiding, the locations and standards of overnight stays, park fees, and any domestic flight segments. A cheaper camp far from the next morning’s wildlife area can cost you valuable time, so we compare the whole route rather than the nightly room rate alone.
We provide an itemized quote based on your dates, passenger count and preferred accommodation. Any published “from” price is an indication, not a confirmed amount for every traveler. Park fees and flight schedules can change, so ask for the current figures before transferring money.
