What you are booking
Arriving at Kilimanjaro International Airport (JRO) makes it possible to connect your international flight with a safari, but arriving in Tanzania and starting a game drive are not the same thing. Immigration, luggage and the journey toward Arusha take time. We would rather make your first night comfortable and give you an honest four days on the road than promise a park visit that depends on everything running perfectly.

Day-by-day itinerary: five days and four nights
This is our practical planning route. Capable Africa Tours confirms your accommodation, pickup time, transport arrangements and park sequence for your actual dates; it is not a fixed wildlife-sighting promise.
Day 1 — Land at JRO and settle in Arusha
After immigration and baggage collection, meet the driver at the arranged point and travel toward your first hotel. We allow for possible flight delays rather than automatically committing you to a distant park. This is a useful time to meet the safari team, discuss any dietary needs and confirm the next morning’s departure.
Overnight / finish: Overnight at a confirmed Arusha hotel; verify whether dinner, breakfast and the airport transfer are included.
Day 2 — Arusha to Central Serengeti
Leave early for the highlands and onward drive into Serengeti. The journey covers varied landscapes and takes a substantial part of the day, with formalities and breaks along the way. Arrive in the park for some wildlife viewing on the approach to your camp. We do not call this a full Serengeti game-drive day.
Overnight / finish: First night in Serengeti at the location shown in your final itinerary.
Day 3 — Full-day wildlife viewing in Serengeti
Start at first light if you wish and explore a chosen circuit of open plains, kopjes and river habitats. You may see lions, giraffes, elephants, zebras and many birds, but the route adjusts to weather and actual wildlife rather than promises. With only one full day here, choosing a conveniently placed camp makes a significant difference.
Overnight / finish: Second Serengeti night; keep the same camp if practical.
Day 4 — Return through Ngorongoro highlands
After breakfast and a shorter drive, head out of Serengeti toward the conservation area. Your guide can explain the changing vegetation and geology as you move to higher ground. The planned stop is your highlands accommodation rather than an additional full park visit.
Overnight / finish: Night in Karatu or the crater highlands with a briefing about the early descent.
Day 5 — Crater game drive and finish
Start early for Ngorongoro Crater. Its open grassland and wetter sections support different species, although sightings remain unpredictable. After the visit, travel toward Arusha or JRO as agreed. A same-day international flight requires a carefully checked margin; a further hotel night may be the safer and more enjoyable choice.
Overnight / finish: Finish at the confirmed Arusha hotel or airport. Departure flight and hotel arrangements must be shown in writing.
What if your flight arrives before noon?
There may be room for a road transfer or nearby activity, but we will not promise Tarangire without knowing the flight number, formalities and daylight available. An extra day—or arriving the previous evening—changes the route dramatically.
The difference between JRO and Arusha Airport
Kilimanjaro International Airport handles many international arrivals, while Arusha Airport is commonly used for domestic safari connections. Your itinerary should identify the correct airport by name and code; they are not interchangeable transfer points.
Leaving Tanzania on day five?
An early crater descent still leaves travel time back to JRO. Share your flight time before paying. We may recommend a shorter nearby-park route if the departure makes Ngorongoro unsafe to fit.

How much time will be spent driving?
A safari day on the Northern Circuit is not the same as a short city transfer. From Arusha to Tarangire, travelers commonly allow roughly two to three hours before park activities, depending on the starting hotel, road conditions and stops. Reaching Central Serengeti by road from the Karatu/highlands area takes a substantial part of a day. The crater visit and onward return also require most of the final day.
These are planning indications, not promised transfer times. For a Zanzibar fly-in or a Kilimanjaro Airport arrival, flight schedules and check-in time matter just as much as the road journey. Accommodation and prices: what changes the quote?
A five-day safari price changes with the season, the number of guests sharing a vehicle, private versus shared guiding, the locations and standards of overnight stays, park fees, and any domestic flight segments. A cheaper camp far from the next morning’s wildlife area can cost you valuable time, so we compare the whole route rather than the nightly room rate alone.
We provide an itemized quote based on your dates, passenger count and preferred accommodation. Any published “from” price is an indication, not a confirmed amount for every traveler. Park fees and flight schedules can change, so ask for the current figures before transferring money.

Does a five-day trip include five full game-drive days?
No. With international arrival included, day one is normally an airport and hotel transfer.
