What you are booking
If your hotel is in Arusha, you are already at a practical starting point for the northern safari parks. We can collect you at your accommodation, load the safari vehicle and begin the journey without using the first morning on an additional transfer from Moshi or Kilimanjaro Airport. Five days is enough for Tarangire, a proper Serengeti stay and Ngorongoro Crater, provided we keep the route sensible.

Day-by-day itinerary: five days and four nights
This is our practical planning route. Capable Africa Tours confirms your accommodation, pickup time, transport arrangements and park sequence for your actual dates; it is not a fixed wildlife-sighting promise.
Day 1 — Arusha to Tarangire
Your driver-guide collects you after breakfast and heads southwest toward Tarangire National Park. This is the day to settle into the vehicle and get to know how your guide works: when to pause for elephants, when to watch a waterhole and when to move on. Tarangire has baobab woodland, riverine habitats and broad wildlife opportunities; we would rather spend several hours there than rush into a second park.
Overnight / finish: Stay in a lodge or tented camp in the Tarangire–Karatu area. We will name the property and meal basis on the booking confirmation.
Day 2 — Karatu through the highlands to Serengeti
After an early breakfast you travel through the Ngorongoro highlands toward Central Serengeti. The views change from farms and forested slopes to open plains, but this is a fairly long road day with park and conservation-area procedures along the way. Once you reach Serengeti, your guide can take a wildlife-viewing route toward camp rather than driving straight through without stopping.
Overnight / finish: First Serengeti night. Ask for a camp location that suits the selected month and avoids a long commute the next morning.
Day 3 — A full day in Serengeti
This is the day the long drive becomes worthwhile. Start early when wildlife is active, then decide with your guide whether to return for lunch or stay out with a picnic. Kopjes, woodland edges and river lines offer different habitats. Lions and other cats are possible, but a respectful distance and patience are more important than chasing every reported sighting.
Overnight / finish: Second Serengeti night, preferably in the same camp so you do not waste the afternoon changing accommodation.
Day 4 — Serengeti to Ngorongoro highlands
Enjoy a final morning game drive near camp, then begin the drive back toward the Ngorongoro Conservation Area. It is tempting to extend this game drive for hours, but the transfer itself is substantial. Arriving at your lodge before it is very late gives you time for a shower, dinner and a clear briefing about the next morning’s crater descent.
Overnight / finish: Overnight in Karatu or an appropriate highlands property; inside-versus-outside conservation area affects time and cost.
Day 5 — Ngorongoro Crater and return to Arusha
Leave early for the crater, where grassland, forest edges and seasonal wetlands allow very different wildlife viewing in one place. Elephant, buffalo and lions may be seen; black rhino remains an especially difficult and unpredictable sighting. After your allotted crater visit, return to Arusha. Expect to arrive later in the day rather than treating this as a short morning outing.
Overnight / finish: Safari finishes at your agreed Arusha drop-off. We can quote a further hotel or airport transfer separately when necessary.
Is the road journey worth it?
For a first safari, Central Serengeti deserves two nights. The approach road is long, but a second night lets you spend an entire day exploring rather than arriving and leaving almost immediately. If you dislike long drives, ask us to compare a fly-in option before you book.
Where should you sleep the night before?
An Arusha hotel is the simplest option. If you arrive at Kilimanjaro International Airport late in the evening, sleep first and start the road safari the following morning. The hotel and airport transfer are included only when shown on the quotation.
Can you add Lake Manyara as well?
We can redesign the route, but we would not simply squeeze a full Lake Manyara game drive into the return day. A fifth park means reducing time elsewhere. Tell us whether birds, elephants or Serengeti predators matter most, and we will show you the trade-off.

How much time will be spent driving?
A safari day on the Northern Circuit is not the same as a short city transfer. From Arusha to Tarangire, travelers commonly allow roughly two to three hours before park activities, depending on the starting hotel, road conditions and stops. Reaching Central Serengeti by road from the Karatu/highlands area takes a substantial part of a day. The crater visit and onward return also require most of the final day.
These are planning indications, not promised transfer times. For a Zanzibar fly-in or a Kilimanjaro Airport arrival, flight schedules and check-in time matter just as much as the road journey. Accommodation and prices: what changes the quote?
A five-day safari price changes with the season, the number of guests sharing a vehicle, private versus shared guiding, the locations and standards of overnight stays, park fees, and any domestic flight segments. A cheaper camp far from the next morning’s wildlife area can cost you valuable time, so we compare the whole route rather than the nightly room rate alone.
We provide an itemized quote based on your dates, passenger count and preferred accommodation. Any published “from” price is an indication, not a confirmed amount for every traveler. Park fees and flight schedules can change, so ask for the current figures before transferring money.

Are five days enough for Serengeti?
Yes, two Serengeti nights give you one useful full game-drive day. You will not cover every Serengeti region, so the camp should be chosen for the month.
How many hours will we be in the vehicle?
Day two and day five are the longest travel days. Exact hours vary with gate formalities, stops, wildlife sightings, road conditions and lodge locations.
Can Capable arrange hotel pickup?
Yes. We collect you from the confirmed Arusha pickup location and provide the guide and vehicle stated in the quote.
Will we see all Big Five?
There are opportunities for these animals along the route, but sightings are never guaranteed, particularly black rhino and leopard.
Can we end at the airport?
Possibly. Send us your flight details first; a crater visit should not be paired with a tight outbound connection.
