You do not need to move to Arusha just to begin your safari. If you are staying in Moshi—perhaps after a Kilimanjaro climb—Capable Africa Tours can collect you at your hotel and take you toward the Northern Circuit. The detail that matters is the extra road time. We show that honestly so you can decide whether to finish in Arusha or return all the way to Moshi on the last day.

Day-by-day itinerary: five days and four nights
This is our practical planning route. Capable Africa Tours confirms your accommodation, pickup time, transport arrangements and park sequence for your actual dates; it is not a fixed wildlife-sighting promise.
Day 1 — Moshi pickup and Tarangire
We meet you at your Moshi hotel at an agreed early time. Because Moshi is farther from the park than Arusha, this first morning includes a longer drive. Once inside Tarangire, we make the safari worth that journey: elephants, baobabs, river habitats and quiet roadside observation rather than a hurried circuit just to tick off a destination. Stop for lunch when the group is ready.
Overnight / finish: Spend the night around Tarangire or Karatu, depending on the selected lodge and the following day’s road plan.
Day 2 — Drive to Central Serengeti
Set out early through the Ngorongoro highlands toward Serengeti. This is one of the longer days, and the road itself is part of the experience: highland farming communities give way to volcanic landscapes and wide plains. Your guide will use reasonable wildlife stops after entering Serengeti, but a full day of game drives is not realistic on the same transfer.
Overnight / finish: First night at a confirmed Central Serengeti camp. We choose the area around your dates and accommodation budget.
Day 3 — Serengeti at your own pace
Today there is no cross-country transfer. Enjoy an early morning game drive, a picnic or camp lunch, and another outing in the afternoon if you wish. Tell the guide if you especially enjoy cats, giraffes, birdlife or taking photographs so the day is not dominated by other people’s priorities.
Overnight / finish: Second Serengeti night, avoiding another check-in so you can spend more time in the park.
Day 4 — Morning wildlife and highlands transfer
A last morning in the Serengeti can be valuable, but we need to leave enough time to reach the highlands safely. The return journey goes back through the Ngorongoro area, often with beautiful viewpoints and a noticeably cooler evening. The aim is to arrive at the hotel ready for an early start, not exhausted after a late-night check-in.
Overnight / finish: Night in Karatu or a highlands lodge, as specified before payment.
Day 5 — Crater safari, then your agreed drop-off
Descend into Ngorongoro Crater for game viewing around grassland, lake margins and forest patches. Return uphill after the visit and head for the finishing point. If you want to return all the way to Moshi, it will be a long final day; finishing at Arusha may make more sense, especially with onward flights or a tired family.

Straight from the mountain? Give yourself a proper night.
People coming off Kilimanjaro are often tired even when the climb went well. A shower, laundry and a relaxed evening in Moshi can make the first safari day more enjoyable. If you have little flexibility, tell us your mountain descent day so we can be realistic.
Moshi versus Arusha on the last day
Returning to Moshi is possible but adds driving after Ngorongoro Crater. If your next activity is a flight from JRO, we may advise ending in Arusha or having an extra hotel night. The right answer depends on the flight time, not a generic promise that every transfer fits.
What about bags after Kilimanjaro?
If you have bulky trekking equipment that you will not use on safari, ask us about storage arrangements before the trip. Do not assume every vehicle or domestic flight can take climbing duffels; we will discuss luggage with you when your route is confirmed.

How much time will be spent driving?
A safari day on the Northern Circuit is not the same as a short city transfer. From Arusha to Tarangire, travelers commonly allow roughly two to three hours before park activities, depending on the starting hotel, road conditions and stops. Reaching Central Serengeti by road from the Karatu/highlands area takes a substantial part of a day. The crater visit and onward return also require most of the final day.
These are planning indications, not promised transfer times. For a Zanzibar fly-in or a Kilimanjaro Airport arrival, flight schedules and check-in time matter just as much as the road journey. Your Capable Africa Tours itinerary will show the actual order of transfers and the chosen overnight locations.
Accommodation and prices: what changes the quote?
A five-day safari price changes with the season, the number of guests sharing a vehicle, private versus shared guiding, the locations and standards of overnight stays, park fees, and any domestic flight segments. A cheaper camp far from the next morning’s wildlife area can cost you valuable time, so we compare the whole route rather than the nightly room rate alone.
We provide an itemized quote based on your dates, passenger count and preferred accommodation. Any published “from” price is an indication, not a confirmed amount for every traveler. Park fees and flight schedules can change, so ask for the current figures before transferring money.

Can you pick us up at any Moshi hotel?
We can arrange pickup at a confirmed hotel or suitable meeting point in Moshi. Please send the property name and contact number.
Can we start the morning after Kilimanjaro?
Often yes, but a recovery night is preferable, especially after a difficult summit descent.
Does the price include the extra Moshi transfer?
